This is a vintage convertible bead necklace from the late 1940s to 1950s. It is stamped Western Germany.
A ridged gold-tone connector bar divides the strand. Wear it long and loose. Or loop it back to sit doubled and close at the throat. A cascade of graduating beads hangs from the lower join.
The beads are faceted red plastic in different sizes. Cloisonne accent beads in gold and crimson appear at intervals. They are hand painted with fine scrollwork.
